Is your home ready to be marketed?
With all the competition in the real estate market today, you want to be sure your home is “company ready”. First impressions are very important. The following is a list of things you might consider doing to make your home more appealing to potential buyers.
Landscaping
- Cut/Fertilize/Water grass
- Edge grass around walks/trees
- Remove all weeds
- Clean/bleach sidewalk
- Clean/Re-coat Driveway
- Plant flowers
- Install new bark mulch
- Repair fences if needed
- Trim plants/hedges
- Spray for pests
- Contain animals
- Re-rock any walkways as needed
Exterior of Home
- Clean windows/screens
- Paint trim if needed
- Paint door threshold
- Place a pot of bright flowers or a small evergreen on your porch
- Replace or paint front door
- Replace doorknobs
- Clean welcome mat or purchase new mat
- Clean gutters and down spouts
- Clean out garage
- Keep garden tools out of sight
- Oil all doors and sliders
- Wash exterior of home
- Buy new mailbox
- Upgrade outside lighting
- Polish or replace house numbers
Interior of Home
- Professionally clean or replace carpet
- Remove personal items from walls
- Clean out closets
- Clean grout/tile Re-caulk tubs
- Paint walls if needed
- Oil hinges on all doors
- Replace burned out light bulbs
- Clean window coverings
- Check smoke detectors
- Dust every surface of home
- Replace air filter/s
- Wash kitchen cabinets/countertops
- Clean/polish sinks and faucets
- Clean window tracks
- Clean window coverings
- Contain animals
- Fix any broken fixtures
Other simple things you might do to give your home that special touch:
- Burn scented candles or put out potpourri
- Put a flowering plant in a window
- Make a centerpiece for your table
- Play soft music
